Formula One has published its 2026 calendar, confirming a six-event sprint programme. Alongside Silverstone, sprint weekends will be held at Shanghai, Miami, Montreal, Zandvoort and Singapore, with the British Grand Prix scheduled for the first weekend of July as part of a 24-race season.

Silverstone hosted F1’s first ever sprint in 2021 and has not featured on the sprint rota since. The 2026 British Grand Prix will take place over the opening weekend of July.

There is talk of expanding the sprint roster to as many as 12 races from 2027, with organisers referencing data that suggested sprint weekends attract about 10% more television viewers on average than traditional races. The format could also be tweaked, with ideas such as reverse grids under consideration. “The F1 sprint has continued to grow in positive impact and popularity since it was introduced in 2021. With four competitive sessions rather than two during a conventional Grand Prix weekend, F1 sprint events offer more action each day for our fans, broadcast partners, and for the promoters – driving increased attendance and viewership. The 2026 season will usher in a new era of regulations, so having three new sprint venues (Montreal, Zandvoort and Singapore) will only add to the drama on track.”
