Taylor Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce have announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post. The couple shared pictures showing Kelce proposing and the two embracing in a garden. Swift, 35, has about 280 million followers on Instagram, and the post confirms they are set to marry.

Swift’s engagement ring is described as an Old Mine Brilliant Cut, with jewellery created by Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewellery. Kelce’s Chiefs team-mate Patrick Mahomes reposted the announcement with several heart emojis. Kelce previously told his New Heights podcast that he hoped to date Swift after missing her when she performed at Arrowhead Stadium. Swift recalled the moment as a wild, romantic gesture, noting he did not arrange proper logistical steps to meet her backstage and thought his team status would help him get access.

Swift has attended Chiefs games during their relationship and even joined her fiancé at a Wembley Stadium appearance on 23 June, where he joined her on stage. During the Eras Tour, she altered the lyrics of Karma to reference the Chiefs. She has previously performed at Wembley eight times on a single tour, and holds multiple UK chart honours, including four UK number one singles and 13 UK number one albums.
