A British Airways flight attendant has pleaded guilty to performing an aviation function while impaired by drugs after being found naked in an onboard toilet during a flight from California to London. The 41-year-old, Haden Pentecost, was described as agitated, sweating and babbling and was stood down by the flight manager when he failed to assist with pre-flight safety checks. He reportedly locked himself in a lavatory, saying he needed to change clothes, and a colleague later found him naked and unaware of his lack of clothes. The crew member dressed him before guiding him to a vacant seat.

At Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Friday, Pentecost admitted to performing an aviation function while impaired by drugs. The captain spoke to him before a health professional was called. He had dilated pupils and a high heart rate and was checked every 20 minutes until the aircraft arrived at Heathrow, where paramedics took him to hospital. A blood test later detected methamphetamine and amphetamine in his system. He has since been dismissed by British Airways and lives with his husband in Basingstoke. He was granted bail to be sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court at a later date. British Airways was contacted for comment.
